Pochayiv Monastery

   The Pochayiv Monastery
was founded
by several monks who came to Pochayiv
from Kyiv
Pechersk
Lavra.
Pilgrims
keep coming
from many
parts of the
Christian
world to
the Pochayiv
Lavra in ever
growing
numbers.
The Virgin has
shown Herself
to people
in Pochayiv,
Ukraine.

Mediaeval Fortress of Medzhybizh

The fortress
of Medzhybizh
dates back
to the early mediaeval
times. It was
in Medzhybizh
that the
founder
of Hasidism
lived and died. Medzhybizh
is a nice
example
of fruitful
coexistence
and beneficial
mutual
influences
of different
cultures.

Crimea:
Rest and Cure

The Crimea
is often called
a wonder
of nature. The
main curative
factor in
the Crimea
is a unique combination
of mountain
air, evergreen vegetation
and the sea.
In spite of the economic
crisis gripping
the country,
millions
of people
continue
to come to the Crimea for rest
and medical
treatment.

Painter in Love with Mountains

Halyna
Zubchenko,
a painter from
Kyiv, achieved
her spiritual and artistic maturity
in the Carpathian Mountains, an
area of fairy-tale beauty, of rapid, frothy rivers, of age-long history
that is almost
palpable.
Her love for the mountains has stayed with her during all her life
and inspired her
for the creation
of a series
of paintings
called Ukrainian Carpathians.
