Chalice. Augsburg, Germany, second half of the 17th century.
Cast gilt silver, embossed, engraved, painted enamel.
There are very few sacred vessels from west European churches
to be seen in the museums of Ukraine.
This chalice is known to have been donated to the
Uspensky Cathedral in Kyiv in 1694 by a rich man and his wife
“for having their sins absolved.”
